Wet Bolts Installed
I had our Wet Bolt kits installed at the dealer. I have the old parts and there was wear on the bolts near the head where the side plates ride. I had approximately 6000 miles on the Montana.

I am planning to purchase a wet bolt kit when we are at Goshen and you just confirmed my decision. 6000 miles isn't much to already be showing wear.

Mine showed really bad wear with less miles than that. Two years and probably less than 5,000 miles. I think I may have abused mine with sharp turns backwards and forwards and not straightening out. The service advisor asked me about that and I fessed up. I don't do that any more, I have the wet shackle suspension and I hope that problem is behind me.

Even after the Wet Bolt upgrade, I suggest a regular visual inspection schedule also since seeing the local Les Schwab dealer replacing the kit for the second time on his own Alpha fifth wheel. The bushings were showing wear as before, it just took longer.

I wonder if they were greased regularly?

I asked this on a related topic, but how much is "regular"? Before every trip or once every 6 months?

Dave, when I picked my unit up today after having the wet bolts installed they told me to lube them before each long trip. Not to worry about a few short trips between long ones. I was surprised that after 27k miles only two of the shackles showed much elongation. None of the bolts showed much wear. I'm still glad I replaced them even though the old hardware looked really good.

I think they should be greased every 2000 to 3000 mile just as you would service your truck.
