Sticking Fantastic Fan
Our fantastic fan seems to get dirty quickly and then when I turn it on the plastic dome sticks and won't open on its own. If I go up on the roof and pull on it a bit it breaks loose, then I clean it. I have tried a silicon spray, dry lube and WD40 but none seem to work very well. How do you all maintain your fan dome? thanks John

Based on the advice of others here, I called them. Nice lady said she would send stuff to clean and lube the gasket right away. It include a couple small packages of cleaning stuff and packages of lube. I cleaned mine with it and lubed the gasket and it has worked perfect since.

I applied a thin coat of silicon grease to the rubber seal a couple years ago and it hasn't stuck since

I used the dry lube called Jig-A-Loo from Walmart. Comes in an orange can. $7/can, but VERY good. It solved my FF vent sticking. Sprayed all around the seal with it. I have been stickless (is that a word???) for about 9 months now.

Ours where sticking so I phoned them and have two seals on the way. Apparently their supplier changed the composition of the seal and the are replacing them.

John and Dorothy-- While at "The Rally" in Perry , Ga this past spring I stopped by Fantastic's booth and told them I had the same problem. They gave me two or three packets of cleaner (actually it was alcohol swabs) and some lube which is from 303 Products in California. I rubbed it on and have had no problems since. They did say if the problem continued to let them know and they would send me a new gasket! The 303 company has quite a few things that we RV'r can use check them out on the web! I sent for a sample kit and keep it in the Monte for use but plan on ordering more of the Aerospace lube-- that's what Fantastic gave me except in a swab form! Good luck on the fan!

Thanks for all your help. I contacted Keystone who sent me directly to Fantastic Fan and they sent me the cleaner and 303 lube which looks like it will fix the problem. Thanks again, this group is great. John

We have found when ours is stuck and turning on and off a few times doesn't work, we can flip the switch to manual and then turn by hand. This keeps you off the roof! We don't have any trouble when it is not hot.
No - Dave - Stickless is not a word.
Happy trails......................

Same here, all I do is pull down on the knob to engage the the manual mode and twist. It pops open and is fine till it sits for a week or three. I will look for the Jig-a-loo at Wally tomorrow... Dave

The dealer told me to use vaseline on the fan gasket and on the access caps for the water and cable closet. Not sure if it's recommended or not...just thought I'd pass it along.

After replacing the lifter arm, we had the very same problem. It stuck to the roof gasket and would only move if it was lifted by hand from the roof, or like Sue said, placed in manual mode and then turn the knob.
We also used vaseline coated on the gasket the lid and everywhere there might be contact. We have had no problems since the lubing.

I think baby powder dusted on the seal was a fix mentioned for this at one time as well.

Went to our local Wally World yesterday to get some Jig-a-Loo and it didn't sell so they sent it all back. So will have to wait till we get to a "civilized" Wally World and try there... Dave

I've gotten the replacement kit and it worked for awhile and went back to sticking again after about a year.I guess I'll try the vaseline the next time I'm on the roof. What is Jig-a-loo?

WHAT??? I hope my Wally World didn't do that. I will stock up if I find it. Best stuff for non-axle grease applications I have ever found! Even spray it right at my slide seals just prior to pulling them all in on my 3400... Use on the gears and rails, too, instead of the lithium grease, which can collect dirt.
Thanks for the heads up, Dave. Hope it's not too late...
