I still can find no spec's posted on the keystone web site on the R value of the dual pane window. My across the street neighbor who is in the home building business can not see how because of the construction and quality of Camper dual pane windows they can be very efficient in deterring heat or cold... as a additional sound insulator..yes..Sometimes we think things work better because we want them to work better. It will not hurt to have them, If we were not so weight conscious we might have them. Our anticipated travel and where we will be in the heat of the summer and cold of the winter says we do not need them..personal choice on our part.

Rich,
This is a copy from an email I got from a Keystone rep.
"The r value of the standard window is 1.1 When the shades or drapes are closed that adds another 1 r factor—
The dual pane windows adds 1 more r factor to that."

Single pane R value is 1.1
Dual pane R value is 3.1

So there you go, after 80 replies we have figured out that dual pane windows have a R value 2.82 times
better then single pane windows and Patty has a better chance of yelling at RC with out any one out side hearing.
That works for me. I have dual pane windows and glad I do.

J&D, LOL, glad you understand my need for the windows.

We winter camp and found them to be a big help. We have been in below zero weather and with the day night shades hardly had any condensation or draft. We have an older unit so we had water pipes freeze but Keystone has addressed that completely now.

We have also been in 117 degree weather and only have 1 AC and it kept the unit tolerable...not cold but at least cooler.

It's a personal preference for sure and I'm glad that they have it as an option for those of us that want them and like them.

Just like J&D, we have dual pane windows and we are glad we do.

Dick & Patty,

Couldn't have said it better. like you, we do most of our camping in the Fall/Winter/Spring. We like to leave the
Camp sites for the people with kids to use in the Summer months. The dual pane defiantly slow down the window
condensation in the cold months. When we sit by the windows at the back, you are right, there is virtually no draft
even when it is well below freezing out side. Our last 5ver was not as warm as this one.

Take care,
J&D

We are not anti dual pane windows..We have them in the house..they are a good thing and a personal choice depending on how you use your camper, I suppose that if we stayed in 117 degree temps or 0 degree temps we would do anything to slow down heat lose/keep the heat out. Our Anderson dual pane window guide says. that a single pane window has a R value of 1.15.. a 1 to 1 ratio would mean there is no glass there at all..nothing to stop the heat loss. A dual pane with 1/2 inch of air space has a R factor of 1.81,.66 better that a single pane window. Less than 1/2 inch airspace is not effecient..don't know what the Camper dual panes are.Do not confuse R factor with the STC (noise reduction) factor. noise reduction windows require a much larger space between the panes. I am suspect of camper dual pane windows because we see no PUBLISHED spec's..If they we real good they would market them..that is how it works. Even with good dual pane windows they recommend proper ventilation to prevent condensation.Condensation can mean, and usually does mean, that your home or camper is buttoned up to tight. Without valid specs as to the effectiveness we would not buy dual panes or anything else. Not to mention that we will be following the milder temps from now on. We will not be disappointed if we never use the A/c or the furnace...

J.H., I would definitely not want "defiant" windows on our unit! Got enough strong wills in our family!

Just spent 3 months in our new 3400rl on the columbia river across from astoria oregon. Our dual pane windows (rain, fog, cold at times) never sweated once. They are the only way to go..

I just can't believe this thread got as much input as a 'What do you think about Boondocking at Wal*Mart for a week with all slides out and BBQ'ing while using toilet paper from home, while carrying a handgun and displaying a- My Ford can kick your Chevy's keester', thread.

Your right Judy I, I should pay more attention to my spell check.

Ozz, maybe this will be a record setting thread.... But I think it has a way to go to catch up to
the ones about remote thermostats. that was a huge issue.

BTW, where's your BBQ in that pic? I know you have your handguns in the rig - just for Ozz's enjoyment...

What a way to start my day! You NEED dual panes windows, Don. I'll have a new image that will come to mind every time I go to Walmart now! Thanks for some good laughs this morning.

If Keystone reads this, their engineers will be scrambling, trying to figure out how to come up with dual pane PRIVACY GLASS. Thanks, Don, for inspiring the new option that will be coming out next year for our Montanas...

*On Edit~ David, I tried to zoom OUT...

That sure is a scary thought.. Now how can the windowa all be the same price $1385 the 3635 nhas a lot of big windows and the 3400 has less and smaller windows ? also the dealer tells me that dual pane windows only slide open no crank open and the back window does not open ?
