Trail Air pinbox
Thinking this is going to be the direction I'm going in, along with the 2400 superlite hitch.
Who has swapped out std or RotaFlex to air, and are you happy you did?
Trail Air instead of the Flex Air because of stress on the rubber pad with the adapter. (per PullRite)

I have a Trailair and I an very happy with it. I can watch the hitch while I’m driving and see the trailer moving independently of the truck. I’m sure other air hitches work the same.

I think you will be happy with it. I installed a 5th Airborne pin box, similar in operation to the Trailair as it also has the air bag and shock. As Lynwood said, you can see the trailer moving up/down somewhat independent of the truck showing that the pin box is absorbing much of the shock.

The trail air dose the same thing as the 5th airborne I have just didn`t like the look of Darth Vader's helmet on the front of the camper. The air bags don`t come close to the operation of the air pin boxes. A short trip with the pin box deflated and my air bags pumped up proved that in a hurry.

the cover is an accessory, i'm good seeing the shock.
going to go with the 6" longer version too, to increase cab clearance.

I've ran bags on the trucks I've had for years, including this one, but we finally put a TrailAir on the Montana last fall and it took us about 3 miles down the road before we realized we'd made the correct choice. The bags supplement the suspension of your truck and dampen it, the TrailAir dampens the porpoising effect of the camper. It made towing the Montana a lot more enjoyable as it takes out the bone jarring jolts out of most of the interstate bridge expansion joints that the bags couldn't do alone. We made the move and do not regret it one bit.

I had to repair my 5er because the welds broke on the front of my Monty. I believe its because of the solid hitch to pinbox. I will be upgrading to a different pinbox when I return home from my next trip. My idea is it will help cushion the shock on the pinbox.

When we bought our 2018 Montana 3121RL we didn’t have the choice Mor Ryde verse Trailair but after 3,000 miles on the Montana I would say it rides very well, seems to be smooth and coming from a 2013 Crusader 295 it rides way softer

I believe unless you had it changed you have a RotaFlex pin box, but it also may say TrailAir on it.
RotaFlex is the basic rubberized pin (which my 18.5 has)
TrailAir is the next step and has an air bag and pivoting head.
FlexAir is Lipperts next step which has both the rubberized pin and air bag pivoting head.
I will be selling my RotaFlex, and moving up to the TrailAir, but not the FlexAir.
The rubberized head is not recommended for use with the Anderson or PullRite SuperLite hitch, My 2400 PullRite should be here any day.

Mine says Road Armor Trail Air does not say RotoFlex but it doesn’t have the airbag not sure why say this and others say RotoFlex?

Well - I made the choice to TrailAir because my neighbor used it … we love the way it tows but have NO Comparison. So it makes it interesting reading about others experiences. Also purchase the B&W Companion Slider on pucks. only draw back is how heavy it is but have gotten past that concern. Also have the RAM Auto Level. We like life ...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that Montana Division of Keystone went with the Trailair because they tested it against the MORryde and found it to be a little better for the Montana's. It didn't beat out MORryde by much but just enough to convince Keystone to go with the Trailair that is made by Lippert!

It is actually the Trailair-Rotaflex on the '18 Montanas
Yes Lippert makes The Rotaflex, the Trailair, and the Flexair
And to add to the confusion the name on my new one says Air-Ride....lol
This unit was manufactured in the last 30 days, delivered direct from Lippert
