Rear View Cameras
We have a new 2013 3750 FL Montana and I cannot see out back. So do we go wireless? Wired? Multi camera? What has worked best for you?

We had the wired system and now have the wireless one. From my experience the wired system had better picture quality, but I prefer the wireless simply because of not having to hook and unhook the cable connection for the wired version. We only opted for the single camera on both configurations which works well for us. I will add that we occasionally lose signal for a couple of seconds at certain overpasses and underpasses, but it quickly restores the picture. Once you have one, you will not want to do without.

Both of them we had were Voyager products manufactured by Jensen. Here is what we have now (better price available at various online sites):
Voyager Wireless
We had the installer wire it to the running lights on the rear so the running lights have to be on for the camera to receive power.

Ive had a Voyager wireless for 5 and 1/2 years, and when it works its great, but the first 4 years it did not even work 1/2 the time. Replaced monitor twice, power cord twice, camera once. So far this past year it has worked. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I installed Voyager wired rear and side cameras. It was not easy getting the wires snaked to the front of the trailer. It just takes a lot of patience and time. I am extremely happy with the quality of the pictures. It also has audio to the back camera. In order to get the audio I had to install 2 plugins from the trailer to the truck.

I just ordered the Wireless Voyager, got a good deal on it. I was going to go wired for better picture, but the hassle of the cord, whether running externally or internally just did not seem practical. I will let you know how it works out for us.

We bought the Voyager wireless this past spring. We've had no problems with it.

We got ours from RV cams. Do not remember the model number. It is the wired unit we have had it on both Montana's for the last 7 years. I would not leave home without it. The Rear camera and the TPMS are two things we can not do without.

Hi
Ours is a Voyager but the camera is wired to the front of the trailer and it is wireless from the front cap to the TV.
It works well but I drove 18 wheels so long I forget to use it. LOL

We got the Garmin with the wireless backup camera bundled. My husband has yet to install the camera. The Garmin (in addition to a trucker's atlas) is great.

What model of Garmin are you referring to? I didn't know they made one that has a BU camera option. I sell Garmin hand held GPS receivers (and I teach GPS navigation) at a large multi-state outdoor outfitter retailer and I can usually get a pretty good deal on Garmin units, so you have my interest.
The problem is, my 2013 Ram 1-ton has a Garmin built in, so the navigation part of it would be redundant. However, if the price is right for me....Thanks.

We have the Voyager wireless and have not had any problems with it. We have the same result with ours as Bingo stated. But we like the unit.

Once you get used to having a rear view cam you never feel quite secure without one. Our SOB has a Weldex that gave me nothing but problems for the first 2 1/2 years. Even after I replaced the CRT monitor with an LCD it would cut out and die and the worst possible times. Finally, in a last desperate attempt I cut the connector off the monitor end of the cable and soldered on a new one. Haven't had a problem since.
As much of a pain as it is to install cables on a fiver imagine doing one on a 7 year old motor home. I hope I never have to actually do it.

I have the Rear View Safety Systems on the trailer. Hard wired with 3 cameras. Rear cam and two side cams. System allows for cameras to be wired so left/right turn camera come on, backing up camera comes on. I have mine wired hot. I use the rear cam like a rear view mirror. System has a remote you can switch between cams or switch them on the monitor.

So sorry for the late reply. We were at the Lake (in the Monty), with no internet or cellphone service.
We have the Garmin RV760lmt with wireless backup camera. I believe they just started bundling it together in May.
