Those Stupid Vents

There are some low hanging branches along the road where I live. I try to avoid them but like a dumbo sometimes I forget they are there and I go too fast and hit them. Boink, there goes my plumbing vent covers. Does anyone have any suggestions other than “watch what your doing you big jerk!!”

Well, here in Texas City, it is the responsibility of the property owner to maintain a 16 foot vertical clearance at curbside out to the street. About once a year I notify the city department responsible and they put fliers on the property owners doors that if they don't take care of them, the city will. Most don't like the city doing it because they sometimes butcher the trees. I'm about due to notify them again.

Also, here in my area, anyone can trim a tree at curbside-outwards, so I just may take my trustee trimmer and go prune a few myself.

I also knock my vent covers off all the time. I carry replacement covers that clip into the vent pipe and look great. they are about $4.00 at my rv supply house. John

Trim the trees?

I once knocked off two of ours while navigating the only (deadend) road to visit some friends. The road is 3 or 4 miles long. I don't think I'm going to tow down that road again. I'm afraid next time an even lower branch will rip the roof. But I don't suppose you have the option of an alternate route or avoiding that road.

Now that you mention it, we retired to a relatively new community and the city/builders planted all the trees in the area and front yards and they are currently very small. The tiny tree on one side of the driveway died and so I was able to remove it, but the tree on the other side of the driveway, while still quite small, will probably span over the driveway (where I back the trailer). I'll have to keep an eye on this one.
