String size for blinds

I was getting ready to order strinbg for a couple of my shades in my Montana and I was looking at this website:
http://www.fixmyblinds.com/category-s/323.htm
I see there are apparenlty 3 different thicknesses of string. Anyone know which one is correct for our shades - or are they all correct and it is just a matter of preference? I have tried regular corded string from Lowes and Home Depot and assorted hardwares. None of which lasted very long...

We always buy a kit from the Dirty Blind Man, it gives you everything you need to restring your blinds, string, nylon guides, etc.

Dave,
Your question is timely. I just replaced the cords in one of mine. 4 cord one. The best I could measure it, it was 1.8mm. I could only find 1.4mm replacement kit. So I used the 1.4mm size and it worked just fine.
If you can find some white (if your cords are white) braided masonry line that would be less expensive and work just as well. If it is slightly thicker than 1.8mm I don't think it would make much difference.
Now when you restring that sucker, what I found is I used more cord than what the original sting job was from the factory. The factory cords were shorter than what I had to use. I could not figure out the factory way because it came all apart and I could not tell how it was routed in there. So I went online and used this site for directions. Fix My Blinds
I tried the directions on MOC and I must have got lost.

Thanks, Joe! I have re-strung a few blinds. I will try the 1.4 mm. The video on this website is excellent and we have some links from other MOCers that are also good. I have tried to find masonry string in the past, but to no avail for some reason...
