I just added the Trailer Life trip planner. It claims to have every campground in it. I have used it some but not real familure with it yet. As I get to know the program better I will post what I think.

I have the Trailer Life Directory/planner on my laptop, and while it has lots of campgrounds, I was disappointed that it did not include lots of the public campgrounds such as the National Forest Campgrounds, State Campgrounds, Corps of Engineer Campgrounds, and County Campgrounds. I know there are so very many of those public ones that it is hard to do the research to include even most of them.
We happen to love camping at those kinds of places, especially in the summer in the Midwest. Most of the Federal Campgrounds that take reservations can be found at Reserveamerica.com as well as quite a few of the State Campgrounds that take reservations.

These are some of the sites saved on my favorites. They give names, addresses, and all info for many many campgrounds.
www.freecampgrounds.com - www.rvpark.com - www.woodalls.com - www.goodsamsclub.com
There is also koa.com and jellystone.com
Free on the web. Good price huh.

We've found that State Welcome Centers/Visitors Centers will often have displays that include lists of state and county parks/campgrounds. And I would be willing to bet that this information could be mailed to you.

While Good Sam & Woodalls have listings, we have found there are a lot of campgrounds out there that are not listed anywhere. We also wish for a list of every campground across the US.

We've tried Woodall's and didn't like it. Never sure of what you're looking at. Now use Wheeler's and Passport. Also we check welcome centers a lot.

I just came across a website. Does anyone have any experience with "camping.about.com"? I have not had time to check it out thoroughly, but it looks like it's campground directories are pretty extensive.

Trailer Life's directory, Woodall's, and sometimes Wheeler's are available at many bookstores, especially the larger ones. We use primarily Trailer Life, Passport America, and Escapees. I have an older Woodall's as a fallback and an even older Wheeler's.
