Question about water filter

Just bought an inline water filter. Do I install the water filter before the pressure controller? or after? Does it make a difference? Never had a water filter before.

I do before because it will help keep sediments out of the regulator.

You should have your pressure regulator on the supply connection and filters, water softeners and anything else after that! I saw a guy at a park in Montana one time had the pressure regulator at the 5er end a blow up his hose because the park we were at had so much water pressure.

On this page, https://www.campingworld.com/tastepu...n-water-filter it indicates that the disposable inline filters have a max pressure rating of 50 psi--The question was, 'do you need a water pressure regulator when using this filter?' and the answer was 'The max psi this filter can handle is 50 psi, so yes a regulator is recommended.'

Another thought, if you are new to rv water filtering you might take a look at RV water filter store. You might find that those inline filters are not what you think they are.

What is the best filter to buy, I am looking at the two stage outside mount @ about $325, is there a better system, we have horrible water in Yuma.

We do a lot of camping in the fall in places like Yellowstone and I decide to install a triple canister filter in the basement. If it is going to freeze then I just put water in the tank and with quick connects on the hose it is simple to be ready for freezing temps.

You may not use all three at any given time but you will have that capability if needed. Example, sediment for big chunks, a 1 or 5 micron next and then a charcoal for taste and oder. You can change that up some if you are in a place that needed a speciality filter for metals etc. is needed. Depends on the places you camp. All the coach water goes through the system so I keep all the dirt etc off the seals etc in the coach. This has worked well so far. I would like to get a heated hose next so I don’t have to put anything away. I also have a shop lamp aimed at the filters with an old fashion bulb that provides heat and clip it on the basement roof rib just as extra insurance if it is supposed to be really cold.

I have our setup like this has always worked well but I am sure you will get a variety of answers.

From the spigot I have

Water Regulator - Hose - Sediment Filter - Carbon Filter - hose which connects to the RV has worked well for us and never had any issues.

We purchased the essentials plus iron, along with a on the go softener from RV Water Filter Store. We spent some Tom in Yuma after leaving the Q this year. Never noticed a problem with the water so I think our choice was right. We do have an additional UV system for drinking water however.
