ladder ladder
Heck, I couldn't figure out a title for this topic.
Anyway, I got my new truck toolbox and have been reorganizing things..I've got it pretty much where I want it with one exception. My work ladder. It's one of those collapsible gorilla types, so my question is simple. Can I attach it to the back ladder on the monty, or is it too much weight, other issues, etc.?
I've seen 'em hung there before...but that don't make it right !

Bill,
Are you talking about a telescoping ladder or a folding one like mine. I'm assuming it's aluminum.

Bill, I have a Little Giant and last year I left it home and got a folding step ladder from CW. It is a nice ladder but not as tall as the LG. I took my bikes off the ladder bike rack but left the rack on the ladder. This year I may bring the LG with us again on that bike rack. The one thing I will make sure of though is that once the ladder is in place I will strap it down so tight that it has NO bounce ability. This will keep it from tearing the ladder off the rig if we hit a hard bump. Last year when we had the bikes on that rack we hit a RR xing and took a severe jolt. When we got home I discovered that the bikes had bounces so hard that two of the ladder bolts had snapped off. I replaced the bolts and now carry the bikes on a "front of truck hitch" mounted bike rack. I am not sure if this will work or not. I used to carry the ladder just inside of my tailgate without any problem. It lay flat on the bed of the truck.
By the way, the folding step ladder fits nicely inside the basement. I hope this makes sense... Dave

This is all because I put the below box in my bed...which is huge. But it now prevents me from keeping the ladder in my bed.

Bill, the Little Giant is like the second link you posted. I have a short bed Chevy and even with the bedsaver I have room for mine between the hitch and the tailgate... Dave

Nope, tried that..ladder is about 3 inches too long. Maybe mine is a longer version.

Bill, have you tried putting the ladder between the legs of your hitch? That is how we carry ours.

I saw someone at one of the national rallies that had a a rack / carrier built underneath the Montana that the ladder slid into... similar to how the sewer hose tubes are mounted. My Little Giant fits in my truck under the front nose in front of my hitch.

steves, the idea of a carrier under the Montana for a ladder is intriguing. Would be great if someone has a pic showing how that is done. Anyone out there?
