I simply call directv and they swing the locals to the new zip code. Rest of the package is always working. We only do that between the house and our snowbird location in Florida. For shorter trips, live with the roof antenna for locals.

After having dish with the tailgater for ten years, ATT convinced me to go with direct. After 6 months of their system never connecting with the new phones we bought I had enough. We had spent over 7 hours on the phone with multiple technicians and over 4 hours with multiple techs in their stores. I called ATT and politely but firmly let them know I wanted to cancel their direct tv service and I did not feel that they should charge me the $240 early disconnect fee. After a month they haven’t billed me, so far so good.
Now the rest of the story. I had sold my tailgater system for $250. I found a newer one for $100 in better condition than the one I had sold AND Dish gave me $300 for coming back to them! I am now a very happy camper with extra $$ in my pocket and a tv system that works, even through my phone too if I wanted. I am a Dish believer!

Dish is far friendlier the DTV, I used DTV in my other TT for over 10 years and DTV jacked my rates up so I dumped them. I tried to just have it in my TT but it was a no no, Dish is so RV friendly, I use a dish on a tri pod and set it up my self. But this time since we’re full time and staying in on place for a few years I had Dish come out and set up.

With the tailgater all you do is just set it somewhere so there is nothing to block the southern sky, plug in the one coax turn it one and in less than 15 minutes it’s all done.
I have used it successfully from Portland Oregon, Langley BC Canada, Denver, Albuquerque, Yuma, Fountain of Youth, Bakersfield, up and down Oregon coast, all with great success.
I have the “DishForMyRV “ app which is a great help in making sure there no obstructions to the satellites.
Yes Dish is very friendly. Actually Direct was friendly, they could not solve the issue.

I fired directv and was happy to pay off the $400 contract. It was a lesson learned and not to be repeated. AT&T ownership has complicated that whole issue. Bottom line, the directv wireless equipment is not dependable.

Dish with the pathway x2 antenna is a good combination.

It is what it is, we pay, an we learn! RV's, car's etc....are no different. I'll be glad when this country passes a Law to fine people who lie in public. It's almost like everything that is said is half cocked or just untruthful. We try to go with the best for our little dollar. This is why we put our traveler's dish on a two wheel dolly. Not only can I keep the Traveler's Dish when we sale or trade.....we are on our 6th RV, 3rd 5th wheel. 2nd Montana. which will be our last...… the thing about the two wheel dolly is it makes it nice to wheel it out 100' or where ever an hit a button.
