6 point levelers

Has anyone added this to your rig? was it done by someone other than the dealer and are you happy with the result?

A 4 point level up system was added to my motor home. It works as intended and yes I'm happy with it.

Had the Level-Up System added to our 2010 Montana 2955 by the folks at Trail Air before it was sold to Lippert. The Techs there did a great Job, as it was an all day job.

We had a 6 point LevelUp installed on ours this past January in Quartzite at RV Lifestyles in Arizona ( http://www.azrvlifestyles.com/ )
The work was done by a Lippert technician/trainer who was there to certify dealership employees on the install. Good job and no issues as of today.

A 6 point level system is an upgrade I would like to do in the future. I did some research and when I decide to do it I am going to go with the Bigfoot 6 pt. system.

When I saw the 6 point system demonstrated on our 2015 it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen on a fifth wheeler. When I pushed the Auto Level it was like the trailer became alive and started to dance.

And lippert now has a system out that has hydraulics confined to each leveler...ie, no more lines. John

We had the Big Foot levelers put on our first Montana. We ordered the second Montana with the Lippert levelers. After having both I wish we would have ordered the second Montana without Lippert and had the Big Foot installed later. I think it's a much more stable and robust system.

Has anyone with a 6 point system ever experiance a situation where their campsite was so uneven that the system couldn't level? I ask this because I have been to a few campsites that were pretty uneven and had to place different amounts of blocks under my wheels, landing gears and stabilizers to level the rig. I'm guessing you could use blocks on a 6 point system also to level the rig if the system couldn't level it, right or would it throw the system off?

A couple of times we have had to put the system into manual mode and leveled it that way. If it's too bad, it helps to put blocks under the low side jack pads so the jacks don't over-extend. The rig ends up with wheels off the ground, but it has never been a problem, still very stable.

Mike-- Bob is correct and you do not want to over extend your levelers because it will cause damage to them. I have used block numerous time to get the leveler so it was not over extending. I carry numerous 4X$ or 6X6 blocks with me in the bed of the TV for just this purpose. I've also made up some pads made out of 1X6 decking lumber to use if I'm parked on gravel, blacktop or even concrete so the level-ups are not sitting on the ground. This keeps the levelers up some so they do not get extended and also keeps the base pads cleaner.

Why does the manufacturer build something that could destroy itself? Most hydraulics systems that I am familiar with have bypass systems etc so when the cylinder is fully extended or retracted it bypasses the pressure. I certainly don't want to test our auto level system but I am surprised that it would be designed that way.
I have had issue with the auto level not working in auto if the FW is on a slope that has the front higher than the rear. When the unit tries to drop the front down it ran out of travel and turned off. I was able to use manual mode and level the FW just fine.

Rondo,
I don't understand how the levelers can be over extended. What is the indication that this has happened? Did you read this some where? Source?
I understand that there may be situations where pads need to be used to compensate for uneven sites that the levelup cannot address but I have yet needed to put anything under the base pads. One of the reasons I got the levelup system installed was so I didn't have to use blocks every time.

Send a message via AIM to stengels
I do use blocks to limit the amount of extension on the legs. However, I had one instance where both legs extended fully and stopped. the level-up stopped. I put everything back up, re-positioned to a better spot and re-leveled. No damage to the system. I'm not sure you could damage the system unless you tried to manually force it, which shouldn't be done at any time.

The system protects itself against overextending the jacks - whether during auto level or someone manually operating buttons. When a jack reaches its limit it stops - period. A message appears on the display. There are numerous safety checks/limits built into the system to prevent self destruction. Some seem like a nuisance (e.g. the side to side tilt limit when manually lifting the RV to change a tire) but once you understand them it then it is easy to work around them.

Once a jack has reached its extension limit, the only answer is to retract the jack, place blocks under it to reduce the distance the jack has to travel, and try again.

As for leveling in a site where the front is higher than the rear, it normally isn't a problem. The system wants to drop the front below level (i.e. nose low) and then lifts it to the level point. If the slope is too extreme, it can't get the nose below level and it will stop. If you are close, you can level it manually by raising the rear jacks. Otherwise you need to put blocks under the wheels to get the RV higher in the air which has the effect of increasing the room in the front for lowering the nose. I have auto leveled in a site where the front jack has less than 1" of extension due to the rear slope. I didn't think it would be successful but I tried it and was surprised to see it succeed.

If over extended the display will read "out of stroke" and stop Don't see how it can cause damage.
