Most Expensive Ever - Pensacola Beach

In Pensacola Beach , FL at Pensacola Beach RV. New and extremely nice park right on the water.......but, $100 a night and that's with a 20% discount and in the "off" season! I have found no other options but it now ranks as the most expensive park in which we've stayed.

Ouch!!! Hope this trend doesn't continue as we certainly can't justify that price level.

Steve,
Be thankful you didn't elect to stay in the Presidential sites at Pontchartrain Landing. We priced those out for our anniversary trip at $151 per night!! Thank goodness that only happens once in 25 years!!

You can also find some pretty pricy sites by going to Key West.

Did you know Ft. Pickens was right up the road? Large state campground.

Went to Ft. Pickens today, nice National Park near the beach, but the sites we saw were not directly on the water and no 50 Amp to run two AC's - we are spoiled in this 90 degree weather. That would certainly be a much cheaper option, and beach is within easy walking distance.

OK - I'll quit whining! This is a really nice park.

How about $280 for 4 nights at the Floydfest in Floyd Va in a field so steep you need to raise the side of the camper over 8 inches to level it with no hook ups not even a road.

In June 2010 we spent $247.50 for two nights at Boyd's Key West Campground. In the middle of the summer their off-season it ended up being the most expensive place we've ever stayed, before or since. But, we were just inches from the Gulf of Mexico.

How about this view of our campsite out of the back window "just inches from the Gulf of Mexico"???? It was only $5 per night!

I do have to admit this was dry camping at the Reef in Puerto Panesco, Mexico but the water is the same.

I wouldn't want our rig that close to salt water.

No problem! Just gives those of us who love to live and camp at the beach more available campsites.

I can't believe your theory isn't catching on....all the beach campsites around here fill up at the six month reservation window. You need to get on a pulpit and preach your mantra for the benefit of those of us who love the beach.

For that kind of money they should drop a news paper on your steps along with some dancing girls.

There's another new campground in Destin, Fl that charges the same rates.

Well, I have a full hookup in my yard (Texas) with a really good view of the pasture. I have a bicycle ya'll can use and I'll squirt you with the water hose if you get too hot all for just $50 a night.

I've seen a few parks with $100/night rates but haven't stayed in them. There is an rv park near one of our children, and family, where it's one of three parks within driving distance where we fit. All three have similar rates.

At that park, we are there in the offseason. And we get the middle-priced site because we don't fit in the "cheap" sites. Keep in mind this park is a 4-minute walk to a Pacific ocean beach. Again, we're there off-season. And we pay $895/month plus electricity at 16 cents per kwh. That's the monthly rate. If we were there during the higher priced season, that same site is $2399/month plus electricity! And the park is booked full!

I got to agree with Carl N Susan. Rocky Point Mexico beach front with full hook ups for $27 a night. Playa Bonita is an awesome place to stay. If your worried about the salt just have it hand washed and waxed for $1.50 per foot and an extra 15.00 to wash the roof and awnings.

I stayed at South Padre for 3 winters, maybe 4: CRS, it ate the Monte up, pitted the rams on the slides, even with a protective coating. (Obviously it wasn't good enough), but the underbelly metal really took a beating; gas piping, frame, etc.. Nice, but won't go back, so I know what you mean.
It was at Isla Blanca County Park, it was really reasonable, but they had a long waiting list.

I did not know they had such expensive RV parks, I guess some folks are rich and if you can pay for it, they will charge a bunch. If no-one came, the owners would close down and a hotel would pop up there.

Spent a week at Pensacola Beach RV park last February. That was our one luxury for the winter. Had a site on the bay. We don't regret taking out a mortgage for the weeks stay, but probably won't do it again. In addition to Ft. Pickens, there are a couple of campgrounds on the other side of the bay, not on the water, but certainly at a lower cost. If you do visit Pensacola Beach, be sure to eat at Peg Leg Pete's - fantastic seafood!
