GregN, NOW that's a snake. I have always had one credo when it comes to snakes and that is: If thy namne is snake, then kill. I know there are more non poisinous snakes than not but what happens when you are walking along a narrow mountain trail to oversee the beauty that most of them offer, and a snake jumps out in front of you and you lose your footing and go tumbling down the side of the mountain without the finess of a professional gymnast. Was not that nonpoisionous snake just as dangerous as a poisoinous one??? Can I get an AMEN????

This is a 15 foot Western Diamondback Rattlesnake – the largest ever caught on record.

The snake was found near the St. Augustine outlet, in the new KB homes subdivision
just south of Meza, AZ.

They researched the following:

One bite from a snake of this size would contain enough venom to kill over 40 full grown men.

The head of this snake is larger than the hand of a normal size man.

A bite from those fangs would be comparable to being stabbed by two curved, ¼ inch
diameter screwdrivers.

The knife being used to draw out the fangs has a blade of 6 inches.

The snake weighed about 170 pounds.

A snake of this size could easily swallow a small child, dogs and other small animals with no problem.

A snake this size has a striking distance of about 5 ½ feet. Average size snake strike is about 2 feet.

This snake has probably been around since George Bush Sr. was president.

I think my .22 mag. with snake loads would just bounce of that big bruiser, if there were more of those I would carry a howitzer!
