Sky,
I've already blamed you for my old/new one, now I'll have to tell Annette you said I have to upgrade before mine is delivered!

mac,
Just remind her that I have averaged over 21 mpg the past 6 tanks, and the 12 mpg I got towing the coach on my last 7k mile trip. Look at the money I am saving you in fuel with your new Duramax. Hopefully that will get me out of the hot seat!! =)

Mac, she needs to know that with all the wear and tear they need to be upgraded often.

I just hope we get the same mileage from this ULSD. And I hope we can find it...

Sky & Dennis,
I'll try using the MPG on her and telling her what a value we're getting, BUT...... to this day I always hope she doesn't do the math on the 1600+ music cds I own (he said, ducking and running!)

Dave,
I am with you, I hope to see the same great mileage that I am currently getting. The only problem is I have already run the new ULSD on the trip home, and my mileage went to junk! Went from 12 to 9mpg, guess time will tell in the upcoming months....
mac,
1600 cds? Thats awesome! I know your wife will be very happy with your new Duramax! The additional fuel mileage and the 250,000 - 300,000+ miles this truck will last, should help... Let me know if you need any more reasons, I am sure I can come up with a few more... =)

Dave, You're confirming our worst fears on that fuel. Were there any other variables that could have contributed to that drop in mileage? 12 to 9 drop is a 25% loss. That's a little scary.
On Edit~ Did you notice any loss/gain in power, Dave?

Dave,
I ran a tad over 800 miles with the new ULSD fuel throughout the midwest on the way home. This was all done on the same day towing the coach. The only thing that really changed was the temp fell and the slight breeze died as the sun was setting. I ran 4 full tanks of the new fuel through the truck. In my opinion, I have a pretty good average for how the new fuel is going to treat my truck. There was a reduction in power on the new fuel as well, I noticed it most on the smaller rolling hills. The truck was not able to hold 65mph heading west as I was heading east on LSD (500ppm) fuel. This is going over the same Interstate in the same state at the same 65-68mph. Sorry to be the bear of bad news, but at this point I have very little faith in the new fuel.
PS~
I noticed tonight that the Flying J over in Post Falls, ID where I always get my fuel just changed the sticker on the pump. Looks like they are in the process of swtiching over to the new ULSD fuel. I will let you know in the upcoming weeks how the truck does.

Not at all in the Market for a new truck, but was looking over the new GMC on the web. The information is still not 100% complete, but they do show the 2500 and 3500 trucks. Under the available features they list a new Hydro-matic 6L90 3 speed transmission. Although this is listed for the 2500/3500, hopefully this is for the Gas engine, not the Duramax No reference to Allison... I hope they aren't replacing the Allison transmission. Hard to tell, but it looks strange not seeing an Allison reference next to the Duramax.... TC

Dont you worry, the Allison is still there for the Duramax and the 8.1L motors.

We are not at all surprised at the drop in fuel mileage reported my Montana Sky we have been saying that since June when we started using the ULSD fuel in our school busses,,average 2/3 MPG drop.We still see no reference on the Ford web site about their new Diesels or the cost. Don't know about the loss of power that is hard to tell in a schoold bus..however when we did a charter to WVA a couple of months ago my MPG went down the tube..Did the same trip in the same bus the year before and use way less fuel..Don't know if that had anything to do with the new fuel or not but I was highly suspicious.
