Anybody Drive the Cassiar Highway Lately?

Has anybody driven the Cassiar Highway in Northern BC and the Youkon recently? I would like to hear how the road was. What about fuel stops? Any information will be appreciated. We were thinking about coming south from Watson Lake on our return from Alaska in July.

Not lately. Drove it north in '05. Quite an adventure! Much was unpaved and gravel. Some steep grades, too. Beautiful drive, however, if you take your time. Check our link below for more info/pics.

I pretty sure it is paved. also I just looked online and it said it is paved. A few gravel spots - I assume from patch work during spring thaws.

Bob,
Be sure to get current "Milepost" book. It should give you mile by mile descriptions. Better info than from me!! :-D

We drove it in 2010, had some gravel, but only for a few miles, I would recommend filling with diesel before starting down there are great Provincial Parks that have nice campgrounds on the way down. The road is a nice relaxing drive, we certainly would do it again. I would also recommend getting a copy of Alaska Camping by Mike and Terry Church it gives you a better review of the campgrounds than the milepost where the ads are written by the owners of the campgrounds. We have made two trips to Alaska, if we can help send me a PM.
Michael
