Bedroom AC very loud

Just picked up our 2013 358rlt Mountaineer and wondered if anyone with the bedroom AC has noticed how loud it is even on low cool? It is very difficult to hear the bedroom tv with it on. It also makes a droning noise when compressor comes on. Has anyone else experienced this problem. Thanks.

Can't help you on this one because I only have a single A/C in our unit but if it was me and since you have a 2013 unit, I'd be going into my dealer and ask them and see what they say. I'm sure you'll be hearing from the more knowledgible MOC members on A/Cs in no time at all here on this thread. Glad to have you aboard here on the "Best site on the www!" You'll learn a lot from here just keep watching the posts. Since you've got 40 years experience in this camping deal, you should be able to jump on in there and give us some knowledge also!
What part of AL are you from? My wife is from the Cullman area originally!

That is the problem with it being only 5 ft above your head. Now is your bedroom ducted into the overhead ducts or is does it just dump out into the bedroom. If that is the case then it's like a lot of ours. Most people run the main AC which should be ducted at night. If and when it get extremely hot then run the bedroom AC. At night your main AC should be very capable of handling the heat. We only use the bedroom AC when we first set up to cool down the trailer and during the day if we are parked out in the sun and it's 100+ out.

We have a full sized unit in the bedroom and it sounds like you might also. First call Keystone Customer service and get their advise. It might be something a dealer should look at and they'll refer you to one near where you are currently. Second, like Dave, we have the bedroom AC set one degree above the living room unit. At night I close the dump in the living room and open the dump in the bedroom and let the living room unit cool the rig and keep the noise in the living room. During the day, when it's over 100 as it's been all summer, I close the dump in the bedroom so the bedroom unit runs longer and forces more air out the ducts in the main living area. At the same time I open the dump in the living room so as much cool air as possible comes into the main living area. Works good for us.

We also have the low-pro in the bedroom, and it does make more noise than the main unit, but we get used to the sound. We tried using the main unit at night, but with the temperature senser for it located in the main living area, it would get hot in the bedroom. Using the unit in the bedroom keeps it comfortable all night.

Thanks for your comments. I failed to mention that the bedroom AC is not ducted with the main AC but blows out on each side of the unit. I will give it a little time before going back to dealer in case their are other things that show up. Just wondered if it was normal for this unit as the LR AC is much quieter. I must say it will definitely cool. Thanks again.

We also added a low profile non-ducted to the bedroom just two months ago, and yes its loud, but sure nice to have on 100+ days. We do not use it at night, only use the main AC at night.

Agree with everyone else. We had added a ducted low profile to our bedroom. Yep rather noisey, would run both during the day, but we would run the bedroom unit and not the main during the evening so we could hear the Tele in the Living room, then switch and run only the main at bed time. Worked for us. Our SOB has the main all the way towards the back and the second is mid-ship, but the returns are on the outside edges of the ceiling so the unit is not exposed directly inside, makes them much quieter (same set-up as on the new Big Sky)

We had a BR AC, on our 3400, that was not ducted and it was loud. We went to using ear plugs, for a number of reasons. Still use them everynight. Dog will let me know if anything is amiss in the house, then Mr. Walther becomes my friend. Many times we went to bed with just the rear (main) AC on which was ducted into the bedroom. That was usually enough to keep us happy. You might try that for awhile......

Like everyone else, our bedroom AC (low profile, non-ducted) is loud. Use it to help cool the trailer during the day if needed, but rarely use it at night unless the heat requires it.

Mine is loud, non=ducted, but the droaning sound at start-up might be a clue as to it being louder than normal, we can hear the TV OK, have to turn it up a bit. Could be the compressor noise, maybe the fan?

One good thing about it being loud is that you can't hear any snoring. LOL. I will learn to live with it, I'm sure. Thanks everyone.

We bought our Montana in December and have been on the road for three months. First time it was hot enough to turn the AC on and it was very loud too. Plan to get it checked when we get back to FL, after this discussion it sounds like it is what it is! Also, we put our living room AC on and have a tower fan in the hall directed at our bedroom. We have been just fine and only run our AC in bedroom during the day most times. Good luck, Claudia

We also have a non-ducted second AC in our bedroom, and it is so loud that my plan to watch my television shows in there while my husband watched his shows in the living area has gone right out the window. By the time I turn the volume up enough to hear it in the bedroom, the whole RV park can hear it.

When fall comes, we might be able to go back to using just the ducted AC in the living area, but nights here are still in the 85 - 95 degree range, and we have to use that bedroom unit to sleep comfortably.

Can you get ducted for the bedroom? Is there an advantage?

I agree it might be best to run it during the day but I really like to be cool at night so we will just put up with the noise. Thanks to all for the info. Look like it is what it is. Rather have it with the noise than not though.
