water from water tank

I want to put in a water filter..
I know that hooking it up to camp ground water, the water will be filtered, but what about the water coming from the RV water tank, how will that get filtered? I don`t want to put in two filters. the only way I see is to turn on the city fill valve that is in the convenience center. I hope I explained this well enough to make sense.

Thanks in advance

David in beautiful Coeur D Alene,Idaho

David, hookup your filter to the "City Water" connection as usual. At your convenience center, turn the valve to "Fill Tank". When the tank is full, switch back to "City Water".

How have you been? Haven't seen you since 7 Feathers.

I don't have a convenience center like what Don and Annie describe, but before filling my fresh water tank, I do install a filter to the end of the fresh water hose so the water is filtered as it enters the tank. After it's filled, I figure as long as the cap is closed tight the water in the tank is just as filtered as the attached filter when I use the city water supply connection with its filter.

At least on our 2009 Big Sky, when you fill the water tank with Power Fill, it by-passes the built-in water filter so we use an external one (connected to the CG faucet).

The assumption that water from campgrounds and RV parks is filtered is a faulty assumption. Anyone with a see thru filter can tell you about sand and a variety of other items that have arrived in their filters.

In all our years camping we have never used CG water for drinking just bottled water.
Just something we have always done

My unit has a built-in filter behind the convenience center. I put a high quality filter in it to take out cyst and bacteria. In my hose connection from the CG connection, I put another filter that is mainly a sediment filter. It is a less expensive filter that allows the better filter to last longer.

Thanks for your input sounds like power fill will work cause water would go thru filter.
Wife can not drink bottle water, between sodium, chlorine, and what is in the plastic not good..let alone what you pay per gallon We went to filters about 1 year ago in our home. savings 1 case per day for two people 7x$4.00= $28.00x 52 weeks =$1,456x .06 tax =$ 87.36 =$ 1543.36 not counting if you have pay a deposit. Now you have to get rid of the bottle!!!!!!!!!! No I am not a radical, just sensible More $$$$$ to spend on hobbie..Yes we drink a lot of water

In my 67+ years I have always drunk water fom the tap. Grew up on farm drinking milk from the cows (spigots) never anything more than filtered with a cheesecloth. Water from the old outside faucet. Maybe I am not the normal but never have had any problems except when in Haiti.
Everyone must do as they feel comfortable. I filter only to keep out sediment that could clog orifices in Monte.

I know a lot of people use bottled water thinking that it is better, but there is no real criteria for how it is filtered or where it comes from. The only way you can be sure of the water you are using is install a RO system in your coach. Bottled water can come from someones kitchen put in a plastic bottle and sold for "filtered" water. Check it out.

Years ago 60 minutes outed a brand on the east coast that the guy was bottling in his garage using tap water from some New Jersey city. Poor folks were paying big bucks for what they already had coming out of their faucets.
