And So It Begins

I've read for years about all of the stress events in one's life that you go through. Job change, moves, moving to a new company, etc. Well, a week ago, I officially transitioned to Caterpillar from Bucyrus with the closing of the sale. August 1st, I officially begin my new job in Kilgore, Texas as Plant Manager. We closed Friday on our retirement home in Colorado (still years away but it'll be ready when we get there - ground breaking is Monday), signed a lease on a townhome in Tyler, Texas and will be putting our home in Wisconsin on the market next week. We plan on moving our Texas belonging to Tyler right after the Fall Rally. Then, the end of October, most of our belongings will be put in storage until our home in Colorado is completed. In the meantime, I will be plenty busy at work growing our facility in Kilgore. The next nine months will be a blur with plenty of stress.

Congrats! I'm glad the wheels of progress are turning in your job. You will definitely be ready for that beautiful home in Colorado. Remember to take deep breaths often, be patient and don't let the stress ruin it for you.
Great to meet you and Terrie, maybe we can make it a longer get-together down the road.

Looks like you have significant challenges in front of you. Perhaps the greatest challenge IS managing the stress. Stress management is an art that can be learned. Humans can handle large amounts of stress if they build into their lives periods of separation and recovery. Stress relievers can be both positive and negative. Finding those positive ones will strengthen ones capacity to manage more stress. Here's hoping you find yourself up to the challenges ahead.

Welcome to East Texas! Right now you would have a HOT welcome, but better days are ahead in that department. We live 20 miles north of Longview in the little town where I was born and grew up. We often make the short drive over to Tyler State Park with our RV for a day or two in the park. There are also very nice parks on Lake 'o the Pines (COE). Maybe we can get together sometime after your move.

Stiles, I usually deal with stress pretty good and I have started an exercise routine that should help. PadreDW, I would enjoy getting together with you once we are down there in a few weeks. We have posted a request for assistance finding a seasonal campsite in the campsite forum. I have been spending a few days a week down there. I think it's up to 29 straight days of a hundred or more.

Ron and Terrie,
Congratulations, and welcome to Texas. If you travle a little South and get to the Galveston Area, or Houston, give a holler. If we are in town, coffee is on us.

Wayne, we're going to be down for the Houston/UCLA game September 3rd. Our son is on his way out to start his job as Assistant Athletic Trainer for UCLA's football team. It'll be nice to see him on the field. He just finished with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an intern after he finished his Master's. Looking forward to knocking around Texas for a few years.
