Does it happen only when you walk through the area?

Is it a hollow sound or does it sound more like a creaking?

Looking at your floorplan the passthrough basement storage may be just below that bathroom area. Any chance something in the storage is causing the noise? Also, you may well have a holding tank in the belly at that location. Have you noticed the sound only when the tank is pretty full?

If you are running the furnace, we get pops when the ductwork cools after the furnace has run for awhile. Could that be it?

Steve, Thanks for the reply, We hear it at night when we are in bed and we hear it sitting watching tv,the basement is below the area, and as far as the tanks I believe the black water tank is below also. I will have to start paying atttention to the level. Ole dude thanks for the reply but the hot water heater is in the back.

We had a loud popping/cracking sound that made us think that the rig was ready do break in half. It turns out that the entertainment system (DVD/Surround Sound) was building up static electricity and occasionally being released by a capacitor as a large cracking sound through the surround sound speakers. Our solution was to turn off the DVD system when not in use. The cracking stopped immediately.
