Sheet metal question

Hi all,

We took our first shake down trip last week and all went well except one issue.

There is an exterior rubber trim that separates the lower sheet metal to the upper laminate. Our lower sheet metal came out of the rubber trim on the rear back (driver side) of the unit.

Under the rubber trim is a metal strip that appears to hold the lower sheet metal in place...which ours is not doing because it came out.

I can pop the sheet metal back in and push the rubber trim down so the rubber trim snaps in place but the sheet metal will not stay under the metal strip. So when we drive it will come out.

Any advice to rectify the issue would be greatly appreciated.

We have an appt already with dealer to fix under warranty but would like to fix ourselves if possible.

IMHO, if it's under warranty let the dealer perform the repair. If you attempt and it doesn't work, or satisfy you or the DW, and then bring it in to the dealer, they may refuse to repair.

I agree with Wayne. If that is the only thing you found wrong after your first shakedown trip, you are doing great

Sheet metal popped out

Same thing happened to me on trip to Arkansas last summer. I pulled into a Walmart parking lot. DW and me popped it back into the rubber gasket and I added bead of silicone caulk to hold it in place. Have not had it happen again.

I have seen a few other post on this same exact subject. Must be somewhat common. I guess they don't make them like they used to. The small amount of quality they used to have is going down hill fast.

From this issue to leaking slide gear boxes to walls moving in and out with slides to front frame damage, whats next??

My back wall started coming loose!!! Dealer fixed it, but apparently not well. The fender in the corner slipped down and loose again. When I disassembled the fend, the screws holding it on (where the horizontal rubber and metal slot thing are) was barely touching the fender. So after wiggling down the road it pulled thru the fender in a couple of places. I drilled new holes that get a little more of the fender and it has held for the last 5000 miles (last summer). Hope it continues holding......
