Solar

After reading up on solar panels and controllers, I made the plunge. I ordered three panels, HPV 22B charge controller and hardware from AM Solar out of Oregon. Good people to do business with. Products were shipped when they promised, everything necessary for the installation was sent and the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I also saved around $400 over buying the same system here in Florida. The shipping costs from Oregon was equal to the sales tax here in Fl. The most difficult part was getting the wire from the controller to the batteries.
Boonies here we come. First test will be next weekend when we will leave the Keys and spend two nights at Everglades National Park.

Redrover98,

That is a nice solar setup. If you like getting away from the crowds your new solar setup should allow you to do that.

If you haven't done Quartzsite yet you should join the group next year and test out that solar system.

Enjoy your new system and let us know how it works.

We just may try Quartize this summer. We are heading to Pierre, SD in April to volunteer for a couple of months doing trail maintenance and not sure where after that. I already had the inverter, batteries and generator with boondocking in mind. We will be testing the system on our way out to SD. Wal-Mats, National Parks, BLM, etc.

RedRover98,

I would not suggest going to Q during the summer! It is HOT! Practically anytime but summer and you'd enjoy it much more.

Went to Q one summer (forced to by business) never again. People say it is a dry heat, well so is your oven.

Bigmurf,
After I posted about Q in the summer, I knew that would be a mistake. Dry heat, yea, right. Hot is hot. Thanks for the good advice.
Already have 4 6V batteries. Don't know here I could fit any more.lol
