N49 Recall

Hi All,

The new parts for the N49 recall have been recalled. If you have had a N49 recall performed, it will need to be done again.

New parts will/should be available after 4/1.

Guess I should be happy they have never been able to get enough parts to get me in line.

Dealer said they are still getting issued 1 new part per week per dealer. My new parts are expected to arrive in late September based upon the number of folks in line ahead of me waiting for the same part. I planning on trading the truck in within the next few weeks as I am not willing, or care, to wait that long for a safety recall part to arrive.

This is a link to the letter the dealers just got. The recalled parts are being recalled.

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...3V529-4092.pdf

IF the left and right TRE's are in the same plane there is no problem with the left TRE. IF a alignment is/has been done and the left TRE is in a cocked position, only then is there a issue. Go to the link provided and then open the link in post #148 to understand same plane.

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/20...l#post11366994

There is no reason to not drive the truck. Just look under it and make sure the TRE's are the same angle. Wheels straight ahead. I for sure would not trade because of this.

Jim

I got the sad news last week when I finally decided to go to the dealer. I thought all of the confusion was over until my guy said new parts recalled. Upon inspection he says the truck shows no signs of problems. This answer does not give me any encouragement. I am trying hard not to lose faith with Dodge since this Ram is the first Chrysler I owned but to me this IS A SAFETY ISSUE. DW is hesitate to go on the road. We really like our Ram for it does a great job as a TV.

Dodge lets get this recall done right this time.

Dealer told me two weeks ago that there was a recall on parts. Stated it would probably be may before mine is taken care of. Till then, drive and tow as you normally would.
I would feel better knowing it was done.
