Tire Wear

I have spent the last 3 days at the Montana Service Center. I have gotten great service and co-operation from everyone, more than I ever imagined, but I have a problem with my tires.
My question is who has Tacoma tires? Are you having problems? I have extensive wear and cupping on the inside of all my tires. The service center checked the axles, no problems. I took my unit to a body shop to check the alignment, recommended by the service center, no problems except the tires.
They said that the tires were either inferior or not the right grade.
Does anyone else have problems with these tires?

David, we had the Tacoma tires on ours but bought new ones in Florida last winter. We now have Goodyear and they are wearing evenly.

David, I have Tacoma on my 04 had it in for Brakes and bearings. Noticed the tires were wearing on the outside of all four. They checked the axles said it all looked good told me to keep an eye on the. Had one Tacoma go bad about two years ago. I am going to run these for another year if they don't go bad before.

Sounds like you had everything checked and all seems OK. I can only suggest having the tires balanced. Out of balance tires can actually hope down the hiway causing spotty wear. This could be what you are seeing.

My 04 came with the Tacoma tires on it and are still on the coach. After my PDI I went straight to the commercial tire shop and had all 4 tires balanced. I do not have an exact number of miles, but they do have "miles" on them. So far they have been great, no problems with uneven wear or loss of pressure.

Helen,
What Goodyear tires did Bill and you decide on for your coach?

Dave, we put the same size as the Tacoma ones were. At the time that we changed tires we already had about 50,000 miles on both the truck and the Tana so we are not complaining at all. That also included our trip to Alaska which are hard on any tires.

My Tacoma tires were on long enough to get the camper from Keystone to the dealer and then I replaced them with Goodyear Wranglers LT and now I don't worry about the tires. Like Rich said in a previous post we are not here to say Goodyear's are better others. I put on what I think are the best and I realize that others have different opinions. I requested when I ordered the camper for Goodyear's and Keystone you get what we are putting on and so I changed them before we took delivery. I believe that the Tacoma's are Cooper tires and made here in the US. No Chinese tires for me. This is just my opinion.

Hazmic,
You are correct about the Tacomas being Cooper tires. Not sure whether they are domestic or import though. BIL is a manager at a tire store and sells Coopers. I was looking at a three year old set on a Montana over Labor Day, that had travelled extensively and they still looked like new. Coach is always stored indoors so that may have something to do with it. Maybe a call to Cooper Tires is in order to the OP to see if Cooper will do anything????? Curious how it shakes out in the end.

Our Mountaineer has Tacoma tires and they still look like new. Perhaps that's because the original owner only used it a couple of times a year.

Had Tacoma tires on our 3670RL. Took them off today and had Goodyear load range G 14 ply installed. The Tacomas were wearing on the inside badly for the amount of miles on them. Had everything checked and I think they may be too light for the load they are carrying. Will give them to my son and he can put them on his truck.

I had Tacomas until they all started cupping on the inside and outside. Drove about 15k miles total. Then one tire completely wore down in 250 miles (see a previous post I had). Took it to a service center and my bearings all needed new seals. Replaced with Yokohama's and wear seems great after about 4k miles.

I had Tacoma on my 05 - just had to replace them because the the rear leaf spring hanger broke and I did not know it until the inside treads on both rear wheels were gone. I had about 15k on them and no problems. Could have gotten one more year for sure. Ran them for 3 years. Replaced with Coopers.

Not to be different but I wil be. Our unit came with Uniroyals, Laredo. So far no problems but also no where near the miles that some of you put on. Hopefully this will change someday but for now atleast these tires are problem free. This is a good thing.
