A/C and Furnace on at the same time

Got up this morning after a long overnight thunderstorm and it was a little cool inside. Turned on furnace and both A/C and furnace came on, but furnace never fired up. How do I get the A/C to not come on? Do I need to re initialize the thermostat? Turned on fireplace and took chill off. DW and G Ret are happy now, but want to be ready for tomorrow. Thermostat was set at 66 degrees. Outside temp was 40.

if you have the dual zone thermostat controls i believe you have to go to zone 1 and turn off a/c and zone 2 and make sure a/c is off then go back to zone 1 and scroll and select furnace and see if that will work

I had the same issue. I had to look in the manual and follow the reset procedure. That cleared everything and then it worked fine. Sorry I don't have the manual with me to tell you how, but it was simple.

On zone 1, you must change the fan setting to 'Auto'.

The dual zone thermostats can be tricky without the manual.

I am assuming that I only have a one zone as the front A/C is not controlled by the thermostat. I have all my manuals in the trailer, but assumed it was the thermostat, not the furnace or A/C. Will do some reading and get back if I figure it out. Thanks. On vacation, have plenty of time to read today as it is raining again. A day cooped up in the Montana is better than a day at work!

Re initialized the thermostat and checked all the settings. Apparently if fan is set to Lo or High, A/C fan will circulate air without compressor coming on. If you don't want the A/C to circulate air, setting fan to auto will only allow furnace to move air in furnace mode. Our thermostat fan was set on High which caused A/C fan to run too. Also now know we have a single zone thermostat with heat strips in front A/C. Today was the first time we turned on furnace since dealer walk through. Don't get to use the furnace much here in AZ as cooling is the bigger issue! Thanks for the feedback.

Cat Craw is right. reset the thermostat and that should take care of that problem. Happened to me last week. Just look at the manual.
