Milage on 2006 GMC

We are changing from 2003 Chev. HD 2500 Duramax. Was happy with the old milage, anyone know what we can expect with the new truck? It is GMC same set up,only this is 6600 High Output. We got 17-20 mpg on the highway with our 03, and about 12 when pulling our 3400RL Montana. Would appreciate some feedback on this. Larry and Pat Olson

Thanks Tom for your experience. We really loved our 03 but Larry says this engine is way improved, he is feeling he made a good choice. Now if we can just get the price for a gallon of diesel down a little!

Mine is a '06 Chevy dmax/allison. 2500 miles, the best I've gotten is 17 hwy @ 65mph, 12 w/2955rl @ 60 mph. Oregon. I also had an "03", It was easy to regularly get over 20 mpg. Once even on a Portland Seattle trip at 80 mph; 23 mpg - empty truck.

If you can arrange to have the wind at your back it seems to help a lot!

Hang on for another hit on diesel with BP closing down their Alaska pipeline---probably 20 cents a gal. We get about 10.5-11 towing and 17 around town. Did get 20 once doing 60mph empty.

89dually has my numbers almost exact. A good tail wind might help the numbers when not towing one or two mpg. Why don't everybody boycott BP and let them drown in their excess oil reserves. I know I don't do business with them even for gasoline.

We think the boycott of BP is a great idea! Here they have been raking in huge profits and not maintaining their equipment? Sounds fishy to us, do you think this is another marketing ploy to raise prices further? As farmers we think the timing really stinks..right beofre harvest. They always find a way to make it difficult. We will honor a BP boycott.

The laws of supply and demand are what have provided the oil companies larger profits. The top 3 oil companies have been selling every ounce of oil/fuel they produce. The world market regulates the price per barrel for oil, not one company.
