Back to the origin of this post.
The new full box frame and the 10spd trans, are the factors that bump the numbers so much.
I love my '18 2500 and it tows very well, I have added air bags to the rear and increased tire size to to cover my pin weight.
I will be looking to trade for a 2020, I really like many of the new additions of this truck.
Unless GM offers a 6.5' box dually I will be getting a SRW 3500 6.5' box Denali.

ya I towed with 2500hd for years. Made the switch in 17 to a dually. feel much safer

Good move to the dually, you'll love it. Adding air bags and bigger tires does not increase your weight carrying ability.

You misread my post, I intend on getting a 3500 single rear wheel.
As far as the bags and tires, it may not change my door sticker but it did increase my carrying ability.

Interesting. Please explain how just adding tires and air bags will increase your carrying capacity.

GM trucks 2500 to 3500srw the only difference is the rear spring pack, and the tires.
I went from a 3100# tire to a 3600# tire to cover the pin weight I carry.
The air bags are not needed to level, just carry the weight over bridge joints.
Truck works very well.
I have no interest in a dual wheel truck, I use the truck for work when not traveling and do not want the fenders of a dually hanging out in the way or the wheelbase.

OK, here a little info from GM about Duallies:
But it’s what’s underneath those fenders that truly matters: the extra set of rear wheels enables dually trucks increased contact with the road, thereby spreading the weight out across two extra wheels and delivering increased stability in the process.
More importantly, the design of the rear axle enables a “full floating” configuration. That’s when the axle shafts only transmit the torque, but don’t actually carry any of the vehicle’s weight. Instead, the bearing hubs (at the outer ends of the axle) carry the truck’s weight. The design is significantly more robust than that of a weight-bearing rear axle

I did my research on the F250/350. Found the same as you. I added the 1 ton spring pack and had already gone from a 3050 lb tire to a 3700lb tire.

Yes you have an extra set of wheels and tires, I am fine not having them.
As far as the rear axle, The single wheel diesels have full floating axles as well......
The rear brake rotors are actually a smaller diameter, on the dually. Yes you get a slightly larger pad, but rotor diameter is more important.

After reading all the comments from SRW owners, I am wondering why they even make DRW trucks??? Apparently there is absolutely no benefit. Why on earth does every professional hot shot driver I know run DRW? Those PROFESSIONALS must have no clue what they are doing. They are towing 100s of thousands of miles with a truck that has more wheels than it needs.
I really don't understand the argument against DRW.......The modern versions ride about the same as an SRW (I own both so I can judge) and the wide rear end really isn't as big of a deal as some folks try to make it out to be. Anyone who says a DRW is not the best tow vehicle for a 5th wheel is just wrong. It might not be the best fit for certain people but it is the best TOW vehicle! I bought the DRW to do ONE thing TOW.
I advocate for buying the vehicle to match the HEAVIEST job it will be performing. It doesn't matter if you use the truck to go to the beauty parlor too or don't have the money to buy a second smaller vehicle. IF your using it to tow that monster 5th wheel that is what you have to size it to do. Just put on the big girl panties and accept the fact that you own a big honking 5th wheel and you can't tow that with a Prieus......Or take the option of a tent or motel room!

Most any 3/4 ton with air bags or the one ton spring pack is just as capable and safe as a SRW one ton. Since many of the dually owners seem to think that everyone must have the most capacity available you guys should be trading your duallys in for a class 8 semi tractor. I mean look, you get two rear axles rated at 20,000lbs each, eight rear tires, and brakes the size of some cars wheels! Of course you'll hate the super stiff ride, the difficulty parking, and buying those extra tires. But wait, aren't those the same inconvenience's as a dually?

I did not choose the DRW the truck specs need to tow our Montana did.I would buy a SWD now IF it was within the specs needed.
