Ads were here this AM, on my computer. They are now gone. No Glenn you were not seeing things, they were here. Now, as we all see, they are not.
Are we having fun yet???

I'll testify to the fact that they were here and now they are gone. Something funny is going on here.

I know all of us didn't have the same dream this morning. The ads were there this morning and also some words were turned into links. If anyone figures out what was happening please let us know. Sure glad they are gone now.

As a counselor, I have often treated folks who are experiencing visual hallucinations. Sometimes the doctor even perscribes psychotropics. Have thought about becoming the "Traveling Shrink". Ok,ok, I believe you. Have you folks ever heard of a "trial baloon?"

What a way to find out if we really are tuned in to the Forum! We certainly are! Now....back to the business at hand...whatever that was. Hmm, its always so hard to bring back something that flew from my memory banks!
At any rate, good to see the quick reply back! Or is that a halucination too?

I am curious if those of us who didn't see the ads are running Windows Service Pack 2? I know I am and there is a lot of blocking capability that might prevent banner ads, etc. Just a thought. At any rate, nothing to see here now, I'll just move along.

Yup I'm running SP2 and I saw the ads that Glen saw but now I don't saw the ads that Glen saw. I can't see the latest posts, or my posts, or the town/temperature jpg but I saw the ads that Glen saw that now he doesn't saw. I really hated them because you could not make them go away. Last night (I'm on Pacific time) I saw the ads that Glen saw.

As RVWheels said, none of the Admins are aware of any intentional placing of ads by Forumco or the Admins. RVWheels probably is right that the forumco software was hacked and now has been fixed.

rames14,
I am NOT running XP. I am using W98se. I did not see nor do I see any ADs.
Parrothead,
If you cannot see your posts or the time and temp bar then you probably have a program blocking them. When I am running my firewall it blocks most all of that kind of thing. When I don't have it on then those things show up just fine. If you aren't seeing your posts then you probably need to fine tune whatever program is doing the blocking. I'd think you want to see what you post.

As the ads are used on other forumco forums I don't believe someone hacked the board. Rather I feel the ads were inadvertently placed on the Montana Owners forum. I believe they were destined for another forumco forum and someone at forumco mistakenly stuck them here.

I just checked again on the ForumCo site and found what appears to be the information to clear up the Ad situation. ForumCo Admin is apparently trying out a new AD system that is placed on the "free" forums. Somehow it got posted on our "paid" MOC forum. As I understand it some code is placed on the forum page and then a "spider" from Google will visit the site and make "custom" ad links to start showing up. Hopefully we have seen the last of the AD problem but since ForumCo is still testing things they may show up again. Just keep your eyes open for them and report them if they do show up. Thanks so much for all the reports.

Thanks RVWheels for keeping us abreast of what's going on. I had a feeling it had something to do forumco inadvertently placing the ads here.

Maybe a little RV related ads wouldn't be so bad. Could help with the funding of the site. Maybe Keystone would like to buy space to market the Cambridge. You know how so many here like to trade up frequently.

Well folks I have not seen any ads, of course I run a pop-up blocker. I don't think a few well censored ads to help fund the site would be great as long as there was a limit. If not, or if they get too much, i would rather just send a check for support money as a memeber.

Folks....
We have NO plans for advertising!! That stuff drives me crazy. We will NOT, in the foreseeable future, have advertising on the MOC Forum.
What happened was unintended. Again thank you all for your concern and suggestions but this is a moot issue for the time being.
