Palnning return to Montana
Not quite new Montana owners, yet.
Looking at 3100RL and putting numbers together.
We had 2002 2955RE. Went to motorhome. Miss the mobility of 5er - Motorhome with detachable engine!
Plan on F250 XLT 4x4 SB Crew SRW
Had to establish a new ID as the old one was dropped.

Welcome Back! The site is as good, if not better, as it probably was when your old ID worked. Welcome home.

As you know this is good place to learn about your RV along with meeting and getting to know new friends. If you have not yet completely made up your mind on the truck, recommend also looking at F350 as is almost the same truck with more cargo capacity.

We bought our 3100RL last year about this time. We have really enjoyed owning it. Welcome back to the MOC.

Welcome back to the MOC Family. We also have the 3100RL and just love it. We are living in it full time.

Good luck on your return. I don't know what year rig you are looking for but these new ones sure weigh more than when I bought in 2006. I had an F-250 to go along with it but had to convert to an F-350 and if I had to do it all over again, I should have gotten a more capable truck. Beware you might need a bigger truck if you plan to stay within the numbers and go for a new model.
I also prefer the detachable driver freedom of a fifth wheel. Sure it's a pretty big vehicle to drive around, but this means we can shop for anything we want and get it back to the rig just fine and give help to others if needed! I also have only one engine to worry about.

Welcome as well, we love our 3400RL, had it since 2007, we looked at new ones but are still happy with it.
I pull it with my Super-Duty 250.

Well, we traded the Greyhawk on 2013 Montana 3150RL in late September.
We've transferred most of the basics to the new rig then had to put it in storage for the winter.
We added air shocks to the F250; the new rigs are indeed heavier tongue weight.

Oh my, sounds like you used the same air shock salesman who told me "The air shocks will solve your problem", until I called the air shock folks on something else and they told me "No they don't - Air shocks only improve your ride, they DO NOT increase your tow ratings". I ended up buying the F-350 overload springs and hardware and some new wheels and tires to go along with the ratings to satisfy my load issue. That was back in '06 when I think my large 3500RL was probably still lighter than any large 2013 model. My rig is 14,040 GVWR. What is yours? I also have about 2,500 lbs at the pin. An F-350 meets those numbers, an F-250 does not. Good luck to you.
I still love my airbags and so does oncoming traffic at night. I try not to drive at night, but sometimes you can't help it. The air bags bring my headlights back down.

We have always preferred fivers to motorhomes. I would recommend a serious look at weight requirements carefully before you decide on your tow vehicle. 2011 250 6.7 4X4 crew cab is rated at 14.4K for a fiver according to Ford's tow guide.
