2022 Stress Crack

Adding this post for informational purposes…..

2022 3791RD with less than 4500 miles. Purchased new. Unit is weighed regularly to insure proper load and balance. Axles weights never above 13k. Pin weight never above 2,900lbs. Crack developed on ODS front bedroom slide - front corner. No wall bulges evident. No separation of any other walls or panels. I did notice that the closet latch no longer engages. Related ?

Case opened with Keystone Customer Service. Pictures, weigh receipts provided. Keystone asked many question (not surprising) regarding tow vehicle, hitch and if TV had air bags. Also requested pics of pin box

Appointment made with local RV dealer for flex measurements

One item of interest. Customer Assist Center stated that they have a “new” repair process (not sure what that means)

I will update as repair process begins.

Visited dealer this morning. They are preparing to pull the front cap off and to reinforce the first 30”. (Plus/minus) of the ODS wall and reinforce frame attachment points. I am also having additional gussets welded into the frame (at known failure points) while everything is torn down

All information has been forwarded to Keystone for repair authorization. I have no expectation that they will cover additional frame gussets. I am hopeful that they will cover wall reinforcement and repair.

Either way, I have authorized repairs with the dealer to keep the process moving so we can get the unit back and minimize delays

Good news. always good to hear that Keystone stepped up! New repair process doesn't include removing the cap. Installing wood inserts into the aluminum tubing and welding gussets. Better from a timing standpoint to have a dealer do it then take it to Keystone. Good luck

Update - authorization received from Keystone. Dealer ordering parts. Could be “a couple weeks” to receive parts. Dealer states that once it comes into shop, should turn around in less than a week. Overall, process is moving along, yet it does surprise me the amount of time where you are “sitting and waiting”

I can’t imagine me telling one of our new car customers that spent $100k on a new car that they would need to wait a week for warranty authorization and then two weeks for parts, to repair their warranty condition. We would be buying back a vehicle at that point

But I want to repeat…. I am very grateful that everything is moving ! And I am very happy with everyone that I am working with to resolve this situation. Good people, but a difficult industry

I have learned to stay cool, be nice, treat people with respect and they will truly do the best that they can to help you.

Great news. Picked ip our 3791RD today. Wall repair / stress crack has been repaired. Keystone stepped up quickly and approved the repairs and my local Camping World has completed the repairs.

I know folks have had some difficult times with CW (me included) but I must say, Kyle Straining at the Camping World in Harrisburg is a professional. Took great care of me, kept me informed, returned calls and emails, he is what everyone wants in a service advisor.

They did some extra work that I had requested (I had an air ride pin box installed that I brought in to them when they couldn’t locate one for me) I had them go through the roof and re-caulk all the seams and joints ( it was needed and I don’t feel like doing it). Yes, I could have done it myself but I felt like I wanted to pay them for some customer pay business because of how they have take care of me.

Actual repair time was less than 4 days. I left the unit sit there for 45 days. We didnt have any plans and they agreed to let it sit there.

This CW is very near my sticks and bricks so it is very convenient but I must tell you that we didn’t buy it there. At the time of purchase we were $8k away from each other on the price and I went elsewhere. Nonetheless, they service me and take good care of me. They have definitely earned consideration when we purchase our next one

You read all the postings and you can quickly condemn the industry. But never fear, there are good people out there. Be patient, be nice, be respectful, it’s not an easy job in the best of times.

Thank you to Camping World of Harrisburg

Thanks. When someone gives outstanding service we should be as likely to give them a review as when we get lousy service.
Thanks again

Great news the repairs are completed! Sincerely hope you can enjoy it time and time again!

Agree with mlh - we should give credit when deserved, and also give discredit when it is not!

Thats good news. I'm surprized they warranted a 2 year old Rv? Was this from it sitting on the lot or have you had it since 2022.

I purchased it new in November of 2022 and have several coast to coast trips on it. It hasnt spent much time sitting.

Quit candidly, I would have been more surprised if they hadn’t authorized the repairs. Keystone has a stated warranty providing a three year structural warranty from date of purchase.

Considering they have a known condition where failures are occurring in the side wall at the slide opening, evidenced by the fact that they have bulletin notifying dealers of the diagnostic process and a repair process identifying how to correct the problem and the numerous other folks who have had similar wall failures, they were quick to authorize the repairs.

What truly surprised me was getting the repairs completed in 45 days.

I am very grateful for the outcome and thankful for all those who made it happen
