Vinyl trim and red emergency escape handle
Well after fighting the cheap vinyl trim that Keystone used on my Montana I finally replaced both spots under the bedroom and on the DS above the bedroom window, awning and ending just past the door. Keystone used the termination clips on the bottoms of the runs underneath the bedroom but not the top end. Up on the DS track Keystone decided to not use any termination clips so I bought some. I can’t remember for sure but I used the Premium Vinyl which was .030/.035 thicker than the stuff that I removed. I must admit it does look a lot nicer than have some missing and or in tatters.
Second project was replacement of the broken latch mechanism on the rear Emergency Escape Window. I had found a better design replacement on the web for seventy some dollars but while I was at the local RV dealership I purchased a replacement for Twenty dollars. Realistically probably worth about three dollars. Well I started seeing the difference between the new one and the old one when I started to do the replacement. New handle was longer and mechanism was build even more flimsy than the original. I ended up reusing my handle on the new mechanism. Had to drill out the rivet and install a #4 SS screw with a nyloc nut. I probably will try to never open that window again and quite possibly order the heavy duty direct replacement.
Happy and safe roads to all of you.
Tom Marty
