Hi

Both the Powertron made by Trojan and the Trojan batteries are good batteries. The T-125 in my opinion would provide power longer that the T-105 not just because the specs say so but the T-125 weighs more.

I have operated golf carts with other brands of deep cycle batteries in them and they just don’t give the performance of the Trojan.

The converter on our first Montana (2008 3400RL) was under the steps.

Our 2008 converter was under the stairs behind a grille. When you use 6 volt bat's in series the amp hrs do not double, only the volts double. If you have 2 12 volt batts in parallel, then the amp hrs of each is added for a total amp hr output.

You are correct the T-125 has more amp hrs than the T-105. So in the same application and configuration the T-125 would give you more amp hrs.

The one thing about the deep cycle flooded 6 volt batteries is that when you are using them in a solar application, and getting them up to 14.8 volt charge, you had better be checking the water in them monthly. At that voltage they bubble furiously and will need water added on a regular schedule.
My last Interstate batteries lasted 7 years. At that stage they were using lots of water and not holding the charge as long as I would of liked. Replaced with Trojan T105's and expect they will last just as long.

Hi

Replacing them with the Trojan was a good move Interstate quality has deteriorated sense they have been sold.

Cool Battery Voltage issue on New 3791

So, I have read some of the posts and have a problem with the Level-up system when setting up. Same kind of issue where the Level-up system will not complete the task unless we plug in electricity at the site. This follows a 4 to 5 hour day of towing with several stops including lunch.

We run the inverter while towing for the refrigerator. Wife is diabetic and we must keep her insulin in the r/f. Of course while we tow, the pigtail is plugged into the truck.

So I am wondering whether the inverter is pulling down the battery charge during the tow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

With only one battery, the refer inverter will draw down the battery charge. I don't know if would be enough to prevent the Level Up system from working. If it were me I would go for second battery.

I see you have a Ford which comes with the fuse and relay for the 12V Charge line unlike a Chevy. Ensure the 12V charge line in your RV outlet is actually working. For some reason, the fuse protecting that circuit has a propensity to pop stopping the 12V to the trailer.

Yes, double check that fuse. Good Friends and travel partners just had to replace the fuse in their '15 Superduty Dually, have no idea why it popped.

Thanks. Is it with the rest of the fuses?

I am pretty sure it is fuse #90 (25 amp) in the fuse box under the hood (engine compartment). I carry a spare just in case it fails again.

The Chevy dose come with the complete system it just has to be enabled by connecting the wire at the power center.

Shovelhead, if you know where your 12vdc fuse panel and 120vac breaker panel is, the converter should be on the backside of the panel.

I have an older, '06, Ford F350. I was warned years ago to NOT connect or disconnect the 7 pin connection between the trailer and truck when the engine is running. The surge may/will blow the fuse.
I don't know if that is still the case but take a look at what you are doing. If the fuse was blown then maybe the warning still stands.

Yes, the refrigerator and inverter will drain your battery down while you tow. even if your truck is recharging the battery, it does not put back as much as what is being used. Essentially what is happening is when you get to your site after a days travel, your battery is drained to the point that operating the landing gear on a less then full battery causes a higher amp draw then the 50amp circuit breaker on the battery wall can handle and it trips that thermal self resetting breaker. if you wait a few minutes your gear will operate again. there are two things you need to do to fix this. 1 upgrade your batteries to 2 12volt or 4 6 volt batteries to get more amp hours. second upgrade the 50amp thermal breaker located on the back wall behind the battery to an 80amp breaker.

Jason & Wendy,
Awesome info! Much appreciated.
Will look into adding a 2nd 12volt battery.
Thank you,
Mark
