Shower door disintegrated in 2016 3711 FL

Has anyone else ever had the glass in the tri-pass sliding shower door replaced. Got to my camping location on Friday after a one hour drive and found that one of the shower doors had broken. Tempered glass so it was in a million little pieces all over the bathroom and shower floor. Seems the little plastic mechanism used to latch the door fell apart allowing the doors to slide. It was latched before we left but must not have noticed that it was loose. (the latch assy was in three separate pieces which is how it is made, Seems the threaded retainer loosens until it came apart) Looked at buying a new shower door assy but the price was almost $800 with shipping. Going to try and just get the glass replaced if I can find something close. I saved all of the hardware. You can bet I will come up with a better way to secure the door. My advice, check that cheap little latching mechanism to save yourself a big headache. I am out of warranty so don't plan to ask for repair.

Good luck you might try a glass store instead of a dealership. I have the same problem with on of my back side windows. The vent/movable bottom part is broken but it appears that I will have to buy the whole frame and the unbroken fixed paneL just to get the small broken piece. I have noticed that on our shower doors latch that it can look like the latch is in place but if you press down harder you can feel it move down a little further and it then seems to be securely locked. Until I figured that out I would have the doors move while driving, now it stays latched.

During the PDI for our new trailer we were actually told not to open the windows because of a little piece of plastic that will break easily and, supposedly will not be covered if it does break. There was a rather large list of things we are not supposed to use because they are prone to breaking. Wish we had known about some of that stuff. What good is it to have windows if you can't open them?

The dealer or tech actually told you not to use certain items on your new fiver because they break??? I'd said keep it then, and bought something else on down the road. If you spray silicone on the window seals, the windows won't try and stick as bad and you won't destroy the crank mechanism trying to get it open.

Exactly what we do with the seals. Have had no problem with the latch on the three piece glass enclosure.

We checked the latch on the shower door and it is secure. I believe your issue explains how the shower glass breaks in most cases.

I have a rubber mat that I put on the tracks the door rides on incase the latch fails.

Our shower door shattered in our SOB. Went to a glass place and they had a piece for us in about three days. It cost around $80.00.

Ours had been broken when we first purchased the unit. After the doors were replaced we used small tension curtain rods placed in the track. No problems since.

I just had my shower door glass break and like you said 1,000 pieces. It was my fault it broke. The door seemed out of square and I was trying with force to square it in the frame. I replaced the glass myself. Not that hard. Biggest problem was the glass was 4 mm and all I could find was 3/16" witch is about 1/64" thicker. I had to shave the seal it fits in down a bit. By the way the glass pattern is called Niagara.
To get the door off remove the top channel and should be obvious from there.

Thanks for the tips on the seals and the glass! That's what this forum is for. Only one of us should experience the problem before we know of a fix.

One of my panels broke but it was my fault because I forgot to latch it. Local glass place can replace it, but because it is tempered, the holes need to be drilled first so you have to give them good measurements. I discovered the top of the panel is secured by one small thru screw in the top of the aluminum channel.

wife didn't like cleaning lower track so I removed complete unit and replaced with curved curtain

Shower must be different from mine as mine had no holes in glass.

Never trusted factory latch after it kept opening while traveling and didn,t like floor mat in track so opened doors all the way,drilled small hole through top track frame and put little chrome rod through hole to hold door open. Rod from Ace Hdwe but other box stores probably have same. Rod has head on one end and a small protrusion on one place on other end to keep it from sliding out. Make small slot on top side of hole to let protrusion pass. Be sure not to hit glass while drilling.

Did you get the glass? I know a lady, Ayana Byrd, a Customer Service Rep at Costal Glass. They make a tripass door used by many camper, rv makers.
