"quite cool" air conditioning
Does anyone know anything about the "quite cool" air conditioning upgrade on Montans's?

Not sure specifically what you want to know. It is ducted/vented 100 percent, without the traditional ceiling mount and is quiet as a result. We are very happy to have it. Standard AC unit on the roof. All control from a wall thermostat.

Seems to have been some issues with some folks on how their ductwork was installed, others like it a lot.

I'm not a fan so far. It's quiet but doesn't cool very well in my opinion. Luckily I have legacy pkg with ac in bedroom. It may be louder but it works well

Pretty much. Mine works great and keeps the rig cool and comfortable even in humid 100 degree weather. Our second AC is a traditional setup, in the bedroom, and wish it was the same as the front.

The quiet cool no longer has the return grill directly under the roof unit ... it has separate ductwork positioned more towards the sidewalls that supply the return air. That's the four rectangular vents in the ceiling you see over towards the sidewalls ... two living room ... two bedroom. The supply air ducts are as they have been for many years more down the center of the ceiling. It does make the A/C quieter. It takes away the quick cool dump in the ceiling directly under the unit many of us liked and as has been stated in some cases seems to be less efficient than the standard A/C we're all used to. I feel that is possible due to more ductwork available to not be assembled quite right. Sometimes you can find the gaps in the ductwork by placing your hand on the ceiling and feeling for cold spots. What to do about it after that point is the bad part.

Guess we were lucky. Ductwork is fine, and pumps cold air. However, for the first few trips, I was shopvacuming sawdust out of the ducting by the handfuls.

How is the upper unit accessible for replacement in this setup?
Also, the grey noise from the A/C return is something I wouldn't want to give up. Really helps you sleep when people are making noise outside. Silence in the living area would be a plus as long as it is effecient.
