Don't believe the chip affected your transmission unless you were hitting it hard with a lot of HP. The trans on the 7.3 was a weak link and failures were not uncommon. Lots of people replaced the trans with a Jasper after market. The 7.3 engine is capable of handling the added HP from a chip.
