Redwood 5th Wheel
At a recent RV show at a local Redwood dealer I had an opportunity to look at several models of the Redwood.
Without exception, from the lightest to the heaviest model, Redwood uses Goodyear Marathon tires and yes, they're the made in China variety.

But RW does have the option for G614s on all models, even tho they should be standard on the heavier units, plus a Disc brake option also.

Would love to see Keystone add a disk brake option.

I thought that if the tire says GY Marathon on it, it's automatically made in China. I have no idea where the G614s are made.

The problem is that all manufacturers compete on price and dealers usually sell several brands so they all go cheap on the tires. It's a place the normal buyer doesn't see it coming.

Goodyear G614's are made in U.S. Marathon ST tires are from China. Not sure where other Goodyear Marathon type tires are from. Passenger type's maybe from the US also.

Just another Montana as best as I can see. Very little difference if you look closely, IMHO. Montana's ate coming more often with G614s to us. Maybe Keystone is beginning to get the message.

Along with the independent suspension, but when I asked about both at the last factory tour, I was kind of blown off. Possibly more than most people here, I understand the logistics problems of a manufacturer stocking parts for builds, but with Keystone getting the frames from a local supplier, I don't see the issue since the frames with either or both options could be delivered on an "as needed" basis. I suspect the real reason is they feel most buyers aren't interested in these options (except us more experienced buyers!), so they just don't want to be bothered with adding either option.

I wish both were standard, and will make that suggestion at rally.

Tom, when ordering our SOB I asked about getting the Mor/ryde IS and was told by the Regional Rep that they do work closely with Mor/ryde, BUT not that close. So in a few weeks we'll be visiting Mor/ryde for several days.

I don't see it as ever be standard equipment, as Rich noted in a previous post. The Montana is already on the very high end of price for its market audience, and any higher and it becomes out of range for that group. According to our dealer, the average Montana is pulled less then 3000 miles a year and 9 nights of use. The Cougar is 16 nights, and still around 3000 miles. Looking at these numbers most don't need suspension and brake upgrades or the cost associated with them. Long timers and fulltimers make up a very small segment of the annual purchase pool. But it sure would be nice to have the option.

We noted at the Mor Ryde plant several SOB's waiting to have the IS or Brakes installed so I will bet you can do that if you wanted to. Just have it run over there before you took delivery and have it installed. It looks like we will be having the IS installed before the fall rally as we had it on out 06 3400 and after @ 3K miles on this 2013 the difference is tremendous.
