CB Radio?
Sorry if this is a repeat, but I couldn't find anything.
Does anyone use a CB radio anymore?
Thanx - Dean

We do when traveling with others, solo not so much unless there's a traffic slow down.

We have one, and really only use it when there is traffic to get an idea of what’s going on. It’s more for emergencies than anything. We normally do not have it on.

I got rid of mine when I retired from trucking 8 years ago. Got tired of the garbage talk on it and will never go there again.

Yup. Use it only for sandbagging for weather, road and traffic conditions.

Had one waaaay back in the late 70's -- back when you were supposed to have a license and everything... But haven't used one since. Even when I was driving a semi I didn't use one because of all the trash talk on it like WeBeFulltime said.

I got rid of CB radio years ago. Use an amateur radio now. Got people on that mode.

Like Daveinaz I used to have on back on the early 70's. Had one of those giant whip antennas on a Ford Pinto and my International Scout. Had my license number on the back window (I still remember the license number to this day). Went by the handle KnuckleDragger. Then changed it to RoadRunner. I quit using the CB in the early 80's due to the trash talking. Everybody got big and brave when behind the mic. Kind of like people get today when they are on a key board.

Back in the day, we used a 2510 to listen on 10 meters and chat with truckers on 11 when we were on long rides late at night (being amateur astronomers). One morning about 3am we were looking for directions in Austin back in the early 80s and scanned the frequencies above 40. Found a crew chit-chatting and finally got them to help me out. Turns out they were no help because they were in San Diego - can you say ionospheric propagation:=} It got really lonely when we could not pick up Coast to Coast AM Radio with Art Bell :_|

Almost 40 years on the road in my truck and gave up on CB's about the time cell phones became affordable.
I bet less that 1/2 of the professional drivers on the road use them anymore. If they have them in the truck, they are seldom turned on.
Most of what you hear on them is not for family listening and road condition information is subjective at best... usually useless as everyone has a different opinion on what is bad.
They don't cost much and cost nothing to run if you have one, so enjoy if you like them! Please don't get mad a me if I don't answer you tho... I don't have one in the truck!
