Our Weather - snow.
Last evening, around 11 p.m., this is what our yard looked like:
AT 5 a.m. this morning it was all gone.
If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a little while (Normally, 5 minutes)
Right now it is 34 degrees.
Monday will be 75 degrees.
Must be a warming trend.
Or global warming!!

Wayne, I think you ought to inform Mr. Gore of this warming trend. He might be able to stop it!!!!

Wayne, y'all keep that stuff over there! It's way too cold down here as it is. Saw some ice outside this morning. Yep, it's global warming isn't it?

Our yard has looked like that for well over 2 weeks, up to 4 inches at a time.
OHHH, I don't live in Texas. Rats!

Carol,
You will be living in Texas by next month Just be sure to shut the door behind you when you head south.
Wayne,
I didn't think the snow was cute when we were standing outside looking at losses today. Guess I should have packed that winter coat. We still had snow on the ground when we left the RV at 8:30 this morning.

I pray you are right, and that is the plan, to leave here right after THE holiday. We are hopeful, but, still concerned over the current economic situation. I know there are some that have cancelled their plans and are honkered down in the frozen tundra due to the auto industry news. I need to stay away from the telie, I am having stress attacks from this mess. Trouble is, I have this overwhelming need to understand and know. SIGH
Sorry off topic.

Carol,
Don't know if this helps your stress level, but we paid $2.02 for diesel in Alvin Texas yesterday. Sure hope that you get to come down and enjoy the warmer weather after the holidays.
Colleen
Sorry Wayne.... still off topic. But back on topic....how did the pooch like the snow?

Back on topic, sorta?? I have one dog that loves the snow, the others are non-comittal.
Heard they got a tad bit of this white stuff in Louisiana??

Does $1.47 help????
Colleen
Back on topic, I wish I had taken the cat out on a leash to see what his reaction would have been.

It's my thread and I don't care if you go off topic, so there!
Miya stepped out to the end of the patio, looked both ways, hesitated, then decided on the path of least snow to squat! It was funny. Earlene walked out about 10 feet and called Miya and I think she tried waking on her toe nails to get out there. Couldn't get her to sit. Wonder why.
Carol, gas here in TC is $1.49, but someone said yesterday they saw a station at $1.3??? something.

Yep, those prices are nice. Lowest I have seen here is $1.53. But, thought I saw $1.49 somewhere while running around doing errands, must have been an allusion??
Gotta say, all these lower fuel prices are nice, pocket book/charge card bill and our attitude sure appreciate these lower numbers, eh???
And, on topic: it is snowing here AGAIN!

Carol- If you come down through Omaha the price of gas is $1.49 overall but have seen several stations at $1.47 and below. For some strange reason some of the stations went up in price yesterday. Maybe they know something we don't!!!???!!! If you do come through stop in for a chat and refreshments!!

Carol,
Omaha, Nebraska
Once the home of the largest stockyard in the world but nothing but concrete and buildings now!
Nebraska, home of the once famous Cornhuskers!

Rondo, I thought it was Nebraska. Sorry, not on the route from SE Michigan to Southern Texas. But, maybe some summer?? Keep the prices of fuel down, and all that rot!

This is a web cam of near where our house is as of this morning. This is near to the lake which does not really indicate what has happened inland a few miles further. Most is lake effect snow.
My dad lives in the highlands about 10 miles further inland. 5 days ago he said they had 24-30 inches on the level ground. It is deeper even further inland. They are having to use snowshoes to move around.
BTW... this is still "Fall".

Dave,
The snowmobilers LOVE that!
Wayne,
Route down, undetermined, well, till we get to around Texarkana it is the same, US 12 to I 69, to Indianapolis, I 70 to Effingham, turn south on the I55/57. South to I 40, west to Little Rock, head towards Texarkana.
Much will depend on how well the packing goes, starting the 20th. Sadly, we have to bring all freezables in, and then repack. SIGHH Somehow the piles of stuff to go back in Tana are amazingly scary! then there is all the electronic toys, computers, routers, air cards, scanners, printers, toys toys toys! And, the research and books, WHEW!!
We have THE holiday here this year, first in many years we are actually having it here. Course, I want to leave at noon on the 26th! Like that will happen?? I'll probably still be sleeping off the grandchildren/children exhaustion factor!
The weather watch begins on about the 23rd or so, we prefer/need a 2 to 3 day window of no snow/ice/blizzards to get out of here safely and get to someplace where we can "water-up".
Gosh, hecky darn, wish we could leave November 1st!
Anyway, the weather is pretty much the determining factor, we have made the trip in 5 days, but that is not the preferred, too much driving. Prefer the 6 to 8 days, and if we get stuck somewhere, as we have in the past, it can easily go to the 8 days.
Once, we get ON the road, and over to our first stop, 100 miles from here, we don't rush or panic. No flying J's for us, or Walleyworlds, we hit campgrounds, and have access to power, and the bathrooms if we need them. We run with no water, cause filling it here in 30 degrees (one year it was 4 below), is just not something we care to do. Lots of work, we support the baby wipes industry instead!
