I just read an article (can't find it now) about how gas stations USED to raise prices like a rocket and drop them "like a feather". Now, however, gas station owners, severely hurt by a big drop in customers, and therefore a huge drop in inside sales, are very anxious to drop their prices ASAP. A different mindset.

I have seen it around here. Almost a contest - wouldn't really call it a "gas war" - to see who can be the first to lower their prices and get consumers to their station. A local station even lowered his gas price below his cost in order to be the first station in the area to drop below $4.00 (to $3.99). Everyone else was at $4.08. Word of mouth traveled fast and he had tons of customers. This is good news for us.
