You are right when you say the Cummins is a great engine. I own a Duramax and drive a new Ram 3500 SRW for work. Like them both, but IMO it comes down to the transmission. The Allison is amazing and smooth. The Ram transmission does a lot of thinking, to say the least. It has a slight hesitation in all its thought processes. Other than that, they all have different bells and whistles, but for towing, my pick is the Chevy or GMC with the Allison. Good luck in your search.
