We were at the RV show yesterday, and there were units that actually had external ports that accepted air line type quick connects for outside propane. The fitting linked would still be a screw fitting.

The problem with the quick connect fittings is, you have to use a grill that does not have a regulator because the gas is already regulated down to appliance pressure. We have a Weber Q grill, and at times want to use it away from the rig, so modifying it would be a hassle. Connecting it directly to a cylinder is the most practical way for us.
