update: left it lay in the sun - stood on one and about every four feet or so stretched with everything I had - repeated till got to the end. It just stretched far enough to go end to end on the channel and I chalked both ends and down the top edge like it was- so far it only pulled about a quarter of an inch from the ends -we'll see
