We went from the 6' fold up to the 12' telescoping ladder. The 6' was just tall enough to get you up higher than you should stand (like on the top rung) in order to barely reach to clean the tops of the slider awnings. I'm not short - 6' tall, and thinking back, I should not have been up on the top but held onto the slider for balance because in my mind it was something "I had to do." I never fell off but felt like I could. The 12' is a might more expensive but I can reach anywhere on the rig with it & don't have to worry about a hospital stay now. Mike
