On our 3160 we get out as much moisture as we can after we unload the fridge and then when we part it at our storage place between uses we open the freezer doors and then on the fridge doors, we open them the inch or so that you can and wedge a towel into the opening sim-to what you are doing with the paint sticks. So far we have been OK on minimizing any mold (only time is when we forgot or the towel slipped out).
