When you're plugged into shore power, the converter should be running all the time at pretty much a constant voltage. A big current draw might make the lights get dimmer because of a voltage drop, though, so make sure nothing else is cycling on and off.

Check the voltage on the batteries while this is happening to see what the converter is doing. If it is a 3 stage charger, then the voltage voltage should be between 13.6 and 14.8 volts (14.8 volts only if your batteries are discharged or in bad conditon).

FYI, they are converters, not inverters. Inverters change dc to ac.
