There is also a software for trip planning that will warn you when you have a low bridge. It is Co-Pilot. I specifically mapped a low overpass and it warned me of it's existence. It was a bridge just west of San Antonio, TX that is only 12 feet or less. I also use the Motor Carriers Road Atlas (paper version) to check my route. We keep it in the cab in case we ver off route a little.
