I feel compelled to put in my .02 worth since I have friends in the htg. & ac business.
You should NEVER run your A/C on low because it will freeze up. It needs that higher airflow to keep condensation from forming and freezing on the cooling lines. Also,the combination of water from condensation and the airflow helps keep your condensor from overheating. And that can cost a lot of $$ to replace.
