Never have done the black tank flush on my 2008 3400RL, I would think there would have been a problem by now, after nearly 11 years .

As far as the washer hook up, I do the same, short hose ,drain in a bucket. Again I don't bother with the P trap, never had a washer hooked up, never had the cap off the drain, so theres never been any water in it.
