My advice, NEVER fill-up at a station that has DEF and Diesel at the pump. My neighbour (2016 F350 Lariat) did that, and the yahoo that delivers DEF and diesel contaminated the diesel supply. $16,000 later the fuel management system is repaired. Carry/Buy your own DEF supply, and only fill-up at stand alone pumps. In addition to saying that, use only national brands, Mobil, Chevron, Shell, BP. Likely more expensive, but if you're counting pennies per gallon, likely you should consider a different set-up. DEF is inexpensive. When hauling, (F350, 2016) I use ~ 4 gallons every 3-4,000 miles. When I'm not hauling, every 6-8,000 miles. Finally, the fuel, lubricants, additives (that the manufacturer recommends) are the life blood of your rig. Do not cheap out, you will come to regret it.
