You are posting based on assumptions and you know what they say about the word 'assume'. GM replaced the leaking transmission lines on my truck a month ago - despite being out of warranty for more than a year - for no charge. I didn't have beg or plead, they just smiled and said, "We need to fix this, and we will". Perhaps GM knows they need to do whatever they can (within reason) to keep customers content. But that's an assumption on my part!
